Just Say the Callsign

Dial 4010, speak an amateur radio callsign, and let Hams Over IP find the destination.

From Spoken Callsign to Completed Call

What happens between saying a callsign and hearing the destination ring?

A Callsign Should Not Stop at the Local PBX

Voice dialing becomes much more useful when callsign resolution can reach beyond the server where the call started.

Community Q&A

Three questions each week
How do I use the new Voice Callsign Directory?
From a supported Hams Over IP extension, dial 4010. Listen for the voice prompt and then say the amateur radio callsign of the operator you want to reach. HOIP processes the spoken callsign, looks for a matching destination and attempts to route the call.
What happens if HOIP cannot find the callsign I say?
A successful voice call depends on HOIP correctly recognizing the spoken callsign and having usable destination information for that callsign. If it cannot be resolved, you can still use the Hams Over IP Live Phonebook or dial a known extension directly.
Does voice callsign dialing replace extension numbers?
No. Direct extension dialing remains an important part of Hams Over IP. Voice callsign dialing provides another option when you know the amateur radio operator’s callsign but do not know the extension. Know the extension? Dial it directly. Know the callsign? Dial 4010 and say it.
